CAD/CAM Milling Machines
The middle link in the digital chain — turning a designed file into the final restoration. Your first decision is wet or dry.
A milling machine takes the file designed in CAD software and mills the final restoration out of a zirconia, PMMA or titanium blank. Margin quality and fit depend on this machine more than anything else in the chain.
Dry vs. wet — the first decision
Before axis count, the key decision is wet or dry milling. Dry milling is for zirconia and PMMA — no water, simpler upkeep. Wet milling is required for glass-ceramic, premill abutments and titanium — these materials don't reach acceptable surface quality without water cooling.
